We are looking for a PURCHASING MANAGER
Position Purpose and Objectives
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for ensuring the continuous supply of the materials and services required for production and for the smooth operation of the company. The role focuses on the strategic management of procurement activities, including supplier selection, negotiation of commercial terms, and management of the product/item database, with the aim of optimizing company resources. The Purchasing Manager also provides support to Project Managers (PMs) in selecting suppliers and materials according to specific customer requirements.
Main Responsibilities
1. Procurement Management
- Research and select suppliers, negotiating commercial, financial, and logistics terms
- Monitor supplier quality and manage supplier relationships to ensure compliance with specifications
- Optimize purchasing activities according to production planning, reducing waste and costs
- Negotiate purchasing terms to achieve economic and operational benefits
2. Product / Item Database Management
- Continuously maintain and update the product/item database, including relevant technical specifications
- Manage supplier price lists, ensuring that item codes and current prices are valid and up to date
- Ensure that product/item information is complete, accurate, and easily accessible
3. Support to Project Managers
- Work closely with PMs to identify the products and services required to meet specific customer requirements
- Provide guidance on material selection based on technical and operational needs
- Ensure that purchased materials meet quality standards and comply with project timelines
4. Procurement Optimization
- Coordinate with production planning to determine material requirements and optimize purchasing quantities
- Analyze cash flow and procurement requirements to maximize purchasing efficiency
5. Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent material shortages or excess stock
- Work closely with inbound logistics to ensure effective inventory management
- Ensure that materials are delivered on time and in compliance with specifications.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- At least 2–3 years of experience in purchasing/procurement management
- Previous experience in the relevant industry or similar sectors will be considered a strong advantage, particularly experience purchasing products and services for manufacturing companies (raw materials such as wood and related products, Plexiglas, screws, metal furniture, etc.)
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Knowledge of ERP systems and management software
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD 2D, specifically the ability to read technical drawings
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
- Knowledge of regulations relating to purchasing and supply management
- English language skills preferred
- Technical diploma or degree preferred
